ABB’s Sherrie Clark delivers keynote presentation at Electronica 2020 virtual event; discusses power supply trends that are enabling the technology of the future.

At Electronica 2020 – one of the world’s most prominent electronics industry tradeshows – ABB Power Conversion’s Chief Technology Officer Sherrie Clark delivered a keynote address on the mission-critical role that power supplies will play in enabling the technology of the future. The virtual presentation was delivered during the second day of Electronica’s Power Electronics Forum, highlighting innovative technologies and trends across power supplies, embedded power components and batteries.

Clark leads the global engineering, research and development team at ABB Power Conversion, which develops power solutions for telecommunications, data centers, 5G, high-performance computing and industrial applications. During the presentation, Clark provided insights drawing from her experience and expertise in the power industry. The keynote dove into topics including:

  • Global trends impacting society and technology advancement.
  • The mission-criticality of the power supplies and systems that will help enable the technology of the future.
  • And the key role power engineers play in driving technological innovations.

“From enhanced automation and robotics driving the supply chain to ultra-fast 5G networks connecting everyone and everything, there’s no shortage of innovation that will have a profound impact on the world in which we live and work,” said Clark. “For such innovation to flourish, however, power engineers must be at the forefront of developing innovative systems that will power the technology of tomorrow.”

ABB Power Conversion has been on the frontline of powering the world of tomorrow and helping customers address their unique power challenges. It is developing the technology that will power 5G and future-generation telecommunications and is helping to navigate the power density and cooling challenges facing supercomputing applications.

“Whether developing innovative power systems for supercomputers or miniaturizing power components to address density challenges facing the industry, we’re here to help our customers solve their unique power challenges,” added Jeff Schnitzer, division president of ABB Power Conversion. “At ABB, we’re designing power supplies for technology innovations that are literally powering our society into the future. And we aim to help our customers capture next-generation power possibilities with our reliable, efficient products.”

In addition to ABB’s session at the Electronica Power Electronics Forum, there will be presentations running through November 12 on topics including energy storage as well as power semiconductors and components.
